In 2013, The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) was launched as a response to the call at Rio+20 to support those countries wishing to embark on greener and more inclusive growth trajectories. PAGE is a partnership among five UN agencies, designed to provide technical support for policy reform and capacity building in the transition to a green economy, and is demand driven and must be country-led. PAGE can be a catalyst for scaling up the UN-wide system support to Barbados in the implementation of the Agenda 2030, SAMOA Pathway and the Paris Agreement. The whole-of-Government's and whole-of-society's approach is important for an effective Green Economy transition, as well as private sector buy-in is critical.

The Wildey Green Business Pilot Project is a Project of the Government of Barbados, under the umbrella of PAGE, and implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The Project's goal is to effectively provide support for the ‘greening’ or environmental sustainability of businesses within the Wildey area, with a special focus on youth engagement. The adoption of energy and water programmes entails a non-binding commitment by a select group of small, medium and large enterprises through the participation of their CEOs or upper management in cluster sessions, followed by a management orientation session.

To increase focus and achievement in energy stewardship, water conservation, pollution prevention, solid waste management, corporate social responsibility, beautification, ecological sensitivity, and leadership through education and development, the Project has adopted a business-by-business approach through a geographically curated cluster called the Wildey area.
