Media Advisory: ILO to launch new Labour Overview of Latin America and the Caribbean in times of COVID-19

The International Labour Organization (ILO) invites journalists to a virtual press conference on the latest employment data for Latin America and the Caribbean.

28 September 2020 (Lima, Peru) -- The International Labour Organization (ILO) invites journalists to a virtual press conference on the latest employment data for Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the event, ILO will release the new edition of its report titled "Labour Overview in times of COVID-19: Impacts on the labour market and income in Latin America and the Caribbean”.

The press conference will be held on Wednesday, September 30 at 10:00 am in Peru (GMT -5, 12:00 am in Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, 11:00 am US-EDT, Trinidad and Tobago and the Eastern Caribbean, 10:00 am in Jamaica, Colombia and Mexico, and 09:00 am Central American time).

Report findings will be presented by the following featured speakers: 
  • Vinicius Pinheiro, Director of the ILO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean

  • Roxana Maurizio, ILO Specialist.

The new ILO Labour Overview includes data on employment, unemployment, occupation and other indicators that reflect the impact of the pandemic on labour markets. It also offers an analysis of the responses by countries and the challenges facing the region.
