The project aims to safeguard and rehabilitate cultural heritage sites in northern Jordan, through applying Employment Intensive Approaches in heritage sites rehabilitation activities, including clearance, maintenance, consolidation, site development and presentation. Jobs created through this project target both Syrian refugees and Jordanians in the host communities.

The FAIRWAY Programme
© Photo: Leila Alaoui / ILO, Design: Alexandros Chatzipanagiotou / ILO The FAIRWAY programme addresses underlying causes of decent work deficits at their source through national-level interventions in selected countries of origin in East, West and North Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Morocco). In the Arab States, the programme provides continuity to interventions in countries of destination across the region by building on the work of the Fairway Middle East project (2016-2019), which target low-skilled migrant workers from all regions.
The FAIRWAY programme
The FAIRWAY Programme is an inter-regional initiative to improve labour migration conditions from Africa to the Arab States, and to protect all vulnerable migrant workers in the Arab States. Over the course of four years, FAIRWAY will contribute to enabling migrant workers to contribute to sustainable development in both countries of origin and destination.
Partnership for improving Prospects for host communities and forcibly displaced persons
The Partnership has a four-year initial time horizon (2019-2023). Financially supported by the Netherlands, partners will join their efforts to develop a new paradigm in responding to forced displacement crises.

The overall objective of the research is to contribute to and advance the evidence base on the impact of work permit regulations and procedures governing Syrians’ access to the labour market in Jordan and feed into advocacy and policymaking.
EU-ILO collaboration in the monitoring of labour aspects in the implementation of the EU’s rules of origin initiative for Jordan (Phase II)
The project, in its second phase, implements interventions aimed at supporting the EU-Jordan Agreement on the relaxation of the rules of origin (RoO). The agreement facilitates access of specific Jordanian product categories to the EU market while creating incentives for Jordanian employers to recruit Syrian workers in addition to their Jordanian employees, in order to meet the requirements under the Jordan Compact.

This global project seeks to contribute to the promotion of fair recruitment practices globally and across specific migration corridors in North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. Target countries include Hong Kong SAR, Jordan, Nepal, the Philippines, Tunisia and Qatar.
Employment through Labour Intensive Infrastructure in Jordan (Phases III, IV, V)
This project supports the creation of immediate jobs through Employment Intensive Investment Programmes (EIIP), for both vulnerable Jordanian citizens as well as Syrian refugees. It also improves local infrastructure, with a focus on the maintenance and cleaning of roads, highways and municipal works.
Advancing Decent Work in Jordan’s Agriculture Sector: A compliance model
This project seeks to advance decent work and the status of agriculture workers – Jordanian, refugee and migrant workers - through a compliance model that strengthens productivity, national labour legislation and adheres to international labour standards.
