A course on social protection statistics kicked off today in Praia, Cabo Verde, bringing together members of the Interinstitutional Working Groups on Social Protection Statistics (GITEPS) from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe.

Africa marked the World Day Against Child Labour in Africa and the Day of the African Child!

The African Union, ILO and UNICEF held a virtual Continental event to mark the World Day against Child Labour. The event brought together key actors, who discussed strategies to address child labour, taking a holistic and systemic approach based on the 2020 Global Estimates on Child Labour and related recommendations, which had been launched by the ILO and UNICEF on 10 June.

Members of the ILO from the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) met with representatives of the ILO during the International Labour Conference in June 2014. Inter alia, they discussed the recent publication, "South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP): good practices in social protection and in combating child labour" (see link below to Portuguese version).

TACKLE end of project global stakeholders workshop

'TACKLE', Tackling child labour through education, is a joint project of the European Commission and the ILO with the support of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP). Launched in 2008, TACKLE aims at fighting child labour in 12 countries. An end of project global workshop takes place in Brussels on 2 and 3 July 2013.

The Norwegian funded BASIC project has been operational throughout 2010.The purpose of the knowledge sharing forum is for project staff and ILO constituents to reflect and share information on what they have achieved under the project, and to learn from each other in how they may advance gender equality in the world of work going forward.
